Hello, welcome to my website. I am a theatre director working extensively in new writing, alongside contemporary classics and new adaptations. What characterises my work is a love for heightened realism, poetic, muscular language and a passion for multi-art form exploration.
My recent work includes: The Bear Who Went to War by Alan Pollock at The Albany, Coventry; Inspired by Holst at Cheltenham Playhouse and Everyman; The Elves and the Shoemaker by Joyce Branagh; Alice in Wonderland by Andrew Pollard for The Dukes Theatre's Park show; Tom's Midnight Garden by David Wood and The Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary by John Nicholson both at The Minack Theatre; Ladies That Dig by Joyce Branagh on a North West/East tour; Robin Hood by Andrew Pollard at The Dukes Theatre; The Girl on The Train by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Able at The Barn Theatre; The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Russ Tunney at The Minack Theatre; Ladies That Bus by Joyce Branagh in collaboration with the Dukes Theatre in Lancaster, Brewery Arts in Kendal and Theatre by the Lake; Daddy Long Legs by Paul Gordon and John Caird for The Barn Theatre and Kiss me Quickstep by Amanda Whittington for Queens Theatre, Hornchurch and The New Wolsey.
My experience also includes work for the following: Lie with Me by Kaite O’Reilly as part of LAMDA’s Long Project, a new Peter Pan by Robert Marsden for Selladoor Productions and Sherlock Holmes and the Crimson Cobbles by Toby Hulse for Chipping Norton Theatre. As Artistic Director I directed over twenty new plays for Forest Forge Theatre Company including Free Folk by Gary Owen and Woman of Flowers by Kaite O’Reilly. As Associate Director I also directed Main House Productions of Top Girls, by Caryl Churchill, The Daughter-in-Law by DH Lawrence and The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh for Watford Palace Theatre.
I am committed to re-evaluating theatre's role within the community, inspired by my outreach and education work for, amongst others, Cheltenham Everyman, Salisbury Playhouse, Lyric Theatre Hammersmith and Watford Palace Theatre. I am also a regular director for East 15, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Mountview and Bath Spa Productions.
I believe in the power of theatre changing people’s lives. I know that it is important in creating work that is socially relevant and resonates with a modern audience.
